As part of compliance to the Department of Labour, it is expected that every employer alert the employee about every health risk associated with the job and mitigate that risk as far as it is reasonably possible, (see OHSA 83 of 1993). It the duty of the employer to see to it that the employees are medically fit to do the inherent requirements of the job - this is done at the beginning of employment or within 3 months of employment and yearly depending on the fitness category of the employee) and upon exit of employment. Our job is to make this easier for both the employee and the employer.
